NATEP project “Triaging through NDT” begins

Theta, in partnership with the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) in Coventry and with end-user support from Rolls-Royce NDT Group in Derby, have just started an 18-month project funded under the National Aerospace Technology Exploitation Programme (NATEP). The project will develop a non-linear acoustic NDT technique for automated real-time go/no-go decision making.

Currently there is no method for instant detection of crack-like flaws in aerospace structures. The project will produce a technology demonstrator of a real-time non-linear NDT system for rapid triaging of structural health (at manufacture or in-service).
